I am not one for asking for help, just because I am hard headed and nothing else. But this past week when I was down to $3.00 to my name and no chance of getting any anytime soon since Owen's dad didn't pay yet again. Luckily, we have food stamps or we would really starve, but we didn't get those until today.
Back to last week, we had bread and a few frozen food items. I was starting to be happy that Owen doesn't eat since I was eating what he left behind. That is if I could get it before he feed it to Shye, trust me that was a fight a few times. But I had remembered watching the news online of course (we don't have cable and are down to one small tv, since the one in the living room died at the age of 10 years, it was time to go) a few weeks ago when both Owen and I didn't feel well, that there was a story of a site that helps people in need get a pizza. As a person who cooks at least once a day, everyday I know the joy of not having to cook and there is nothing that test better than a hot gooy cheesy pizza. So I looked up the site and was surprised by the size and how they don't just help those in major cites like New York (which was shown in the news piece).
So, on Sunday I placed a request for a pizza, not expecting much. But to my surprise I had a person offer to buy Owen and I some pizza one to get now and one for his birthday. I must say that I cried tears of joy. I didn't tell Owen, just incase it wasn't true. In a way I am glad because the pizzas fell through the site for ordering gift cards was giving the person some problems (anyone who has ordered stuff online know that this can happen). So instead of pizza they sent us a Amazon.com gift card. Needless to say when I got that email I really started crying, especially when they said that we could use the money to buy anything that we wanted not just food. I must say that lifted a huge weight off my chest of trying to find money to buy Owen something for his birthday in 2 weeks. He got several movies and a puzzle video game.
Since I am sure that some of you might be now or soon need help or want to help someone else I'll give the site. If I come across other sites that are really, really helpful I will post them. Just remember that this is a free site and there are jerks out there who will be helpful and others who are just jerks, so don't get your hopes up real high or upset if they say something bad about you.

ABC News did the piece on Random Acts Of Pizza if you want to read or watch the report. It is truly amazing how people are still willing to help even if they really don't have much to give. Along with how one simple things a pizza really makes someone's day.
